THREE SIMPLE STEPS

How to use this tool

  1. Choose your GIF

Select a GIF up to 20MiB. Use Play or the Preview frame slider to inspect the decoded animation before making changes.

  2. Choose your settings

Inspect the source playback count, then choose Play once, Infinite loop or Finite total plays. Enter the total count for a finite loop.

  3. Inspect and download

Select Generate result and download the GIF with updated loop metadata. Reopen it in your destination player, which may override the stored count.

MADE FOR THIS TASK

Key features

  • Choose total playback count

Make a GIF play once, forever or a finite number of times. Finite values describe total plays, not extra repeats.

  • Keep encoded image frames

Only loop metadata changes. Existing image blocks, palettes and frame delays are preserved without re-encoding.

  • Free, without an account

Use the available controls, preview and downloads without sign-up or payment. Processing runs on your device within the stated format and memory limits.

What GIF Loop Changer changes

Choose a GIF and inspect its total plays. A missing loop extension means one pass. The controls initially keep the source setting; choose a new playback mode to change it.

Choose once, infinite or a finite total play count. The tool writes the GIF loop extension with the appropriate repeat value and removes conflicting loop extensions.

Format details and limits

Image blocks, palettes, transparency, disposal and frame delays remain byte-for-byte unchanged. The setting controls only the file metadata; some websites and players override it.

A practical example

If a downloaded sticker plays once, select Infinite loop. For three total plays choose Finite and enter 3, not 2.

Supported files and processing limits

Animation input is limited to 20MiB, 4 megapixels per frame, 300 frames and a 128MiB RGBA frame cache.

Processing and packaging stop after 60 seconds. Device memory and browser capabilities can limit smaller files too. Cancel or clear the task to release its working results; changing a setting clears the old download.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

What number should I enter for three plays?

Choose Finite total plays and enter 3. The interface counts the first pass, so you do not need to subtract one. Some players ignore GIF loop metadata.

Will this change GIF quality or file size significantly?

The image frames are not decoded and re-encoded for export. Only the loop extension is changed, so quality is unchanged and file size differs only by metadata bytes. Preview decoding still uses the stated limits.

Can this GIF looper make an animation repeat forever?

Yes. Select Infinite loop to write the GIF loop extension. Choose Play once or a finite total play count for other behavior. Some players may override the stored setting.

Why was my file rejected?

Input up to 20MiB, 4 megapixels per frame and 300 frames. Total RGBA frame cache is limited to 128MiB. Invalid or unsupported file data is rejected. Try a smaller file or another browser if memory or encoding support is insufficient.

Are my files sent to a server?

No. Your input and generated output remain in your browser. Close the page or clear the tool to release its local results.
