THREE SIMPLE STEPS

How to use this tool

  1. Choose your GIF

Select a GIF up to 20MiB. Use Play or the Preview frame slider to inspect the decoded animation before making changes.

  2. Choose your settings

Inspect the Preview frame slider. Set Start frame and inclusive End frame, or use the Start time and End time fields.

  3. Inspect and download

Select Generate result. Check the selected sequence and download the trimmed GIF. Change the range and generate again if the cut includes an unwanted frame.

MADE FOR THIS TASK

Key features

  • Select a frame or time range

Choose inclusive start and end frames, or enter times that map to complete source frames. The preview slider helps locate the cut.

  • Keep retained frame delays

The shorter GIF keeps each selected frame’s original delay and the source loop setting. Trimming removes time rather than image borders.

  • Free, without an account

Use the available controls, preview and downloads without sign-up or payment. Processing runs on your device within the stated format and memory limits.

What GIF Trimmer changes

Choose a GIF and inspect it with the preview-frame slider. Set zero-based start and end frames; the end frame is included. Time fields map to existing frame boundaries.

Generate to preview the trimmed result. Original delays of retained frames and the source loop setting are preserved. Changing a control clears the previous download.

Format details and limits

Trim changes the timeline, not the image rectangle. Use the border-removal tool to crop the picture. GIF time selections snap to complete frames, so they cannot split a frame in half.

A practical example

If a ten-frame clip has a long introduction, retain frames 3–8. The output contains six frames with their existing individual durations.

Supported files and processing limits

Animation input is limited to 20MiB, 4 megapixels per frame, 300 frames and a 128MiB RGBA frame cache.

Processing and packaging stop after 60 seconds. Device memory and browser capabilities can limit smaller files too. Cancel or clear the task to release its working results; changing a setting clears the old download.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Is the end frame included in the result?

Yes. Frame numbers start at zero, and both endpoints are included. Selecting frames 3 through 8 creates six frames, with their original individual delays.

What is the difference between trimming and cropping?

Trimming removes frames from the beginning or end. Cropping removes pixels around a selected image rectangle. This tool trims time.

Can I trim a GIF by time instead of frame number?

Yes. Set a start and end time inside the source duration. The GIF cutter includes the frames that overlap that interval and keeps those frames’ original delays; it does not cut part of a frame.

Why was my file rejected?

Input up to 20MiB, 4 megapixels per frame and 300 frames. Total RGBA frame cache is limited to 128MiB. Invalid or unsupported file data is rejected. Try a smaller file or another browser if memory or encoding support is insufficient.

Are my files sent to a server?

No. Your input and generated output remain in your browser. Close the page or clear the tool to release its local results.
