THREE SIMPLE STEPS

How to use this tool

  1. Choose your GIF

Select a GIF up to 20MiB. Use Play or the Preview frame slider to inspect the decoded animation before making changes.

  2. Choose your settings

Choose Grid, Horizontal or Vertical layout. Adjust Columns, Padding and Scale for your sprite workflow.

  3. Inspect and download

Select Generate result. Check the PNG sheet, then save the atlas JSON and PNG frame ZIP alongside it.

MADE FOR THIS TASK

Key features

  • Prepare a sprite atlas

Export a PNG sheet and JSON coordinates with per-frame delays. Choose automatic grid, horizontal or vertical layout.

  • Get every frame separately

The frame ZIP contains PNG images. Adjust columns, padding and scale to suit your game or design workflow.

  • Free, without an account

Use the available controls, preview and downloads without sign-up or payment. Processing runs on your device within the stated format and memory limits.

What GIF to Sprite Sheet changes

Choose a GIF, select a grid, horizontal strip or vertical strip, and set columns, padding and scale. The default grid is approximately square.

Download the sheet PNG, every scaled frame in a ZIP, and a JSON atlas. Each atlas entry contains its zero-based frame number, x/y coordinates, dimensions and original duration in milliseconds.

Format details and limits

Use the PNG and atlas in a game or CSS animation. The atlas is a generic coordinate manifest, not a proprietary Unity or Godot import file. Transparent areas remain transparent and nearest-neighbor scaling keeps pixel edges sharp.

A practical example

For example, four 32×32 frames in two columns with 2px padding produce a 66×66 sheet. Use atlas coordinates rather than assuming frames touch each other.

Supported files and processing limits

Animation input is limited to 20MiB, 4 megapixels per frame, 300 frames and a 128MiB RGBA frame cache.

The output sheet must fit within 16 megapixels and 8192px per side, as well as the frame-cache budget. Padding or a large scale can push an otherwise valid input beyond that limit.

Processing and packaging stop after 60 seconds. Device memory and browser capabilities can limit smaller files too. Cancel or clear the task to release its working results; changing a setting clears the old download.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

What does Padding change?

Padding adds empty space between frame cells. It does not add an outer margin. Read the exported atlas coordinates when importing the sheet into another application.

Can I use this sprite sheet in Unity or Godot?

Yes. The PNG contains your frames, and the JSON gives coordinates and frame durations. Import or adapt the generic atlas for your engine; an engine-specific importer is not included.

What is a spritesheet or sprite atlas?

A spritesheet stores animation frames in one image. This GIF to sprite atlas workflow adds a JSON file with each frame’s coordinates, dimensions and delay, plus a ZIP of individual PNGs.

Why was my file rejected?

Input up to 20MiB, 4 megapixels per frame and 300 frames. Total RGBA frame cache is limited to 128MiB. Invalid or unsupported file data is rejected. Try a smaller file or another browser if memory or encoding support is insufficient.

Are my files sent to a server?

No. Your input and generated output remain in your browser. Close the page or clear the tool to release its local results.
