THREE SIMPLE STEPS

How to use this tool

  1. Choose your GIF

Select a GIF up to 20MiB. Use Play or the Preview frame slider to inspect the decoded animation before making changes.

  2. Choose your settings

Keep Change frame delays and choose 0.5×–3× with the slider or presets. Use Resample at FPS only when you want regular frame sampling.

  3. Inspect and download

Select Generate result. Play the output and check its duration, then download the GIF. Very short delays can play differently in other applications.

MADE FOR THIS TASK

Key features

  • Change frame delays

Slow down to 0.5× or speed up to 3× with a slider and presets. Each source frame remains in sequence.

  • Resample separately at FPS

FPS mode samples the source timeline and may repeat or remove frames. This is different from multiplying playback speed.

  • Free, without an account

Use the available controls, preview and downloads without sign-up or payment. Processing runs on your device within the stated format and memory limits.

What GIF Speed Changer changes

Choose a GIF and a multiplier. At 0.5× the intended frame delays double; at 2× they halve. Presets provide common speeds without typing a number.

Delay mode retains frame order and count. FPS mode samples the timeline at regular intervals and can repeat or drop frames while retaining approximately the original total duration.

Format details and limits

GIF stores delays in 10ms units and viewers can enforce minimum delays. Very fast changes therefore may not play at the exact requested speed. The generated result shows its encoded duration.

A practical example

Try 0.5× for a fast reaction clip or 1.5× to make a slow animation more concise. Leave FPS mode off when preserving every frame matters.

Supported files and processing limits

Animation input is limited to 20MiB, 4 megapixels per frame, 300 frames and a 128MiB RGBA frame cache.

Processing and packaging stop after 60 seconds. Device memory and browser capabilities can limit smaller files too. Cancel or clear the task to release its working results; changing a setting clears the old download.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Why does 2× playback sometimes look less than twice as fast?

GIF delays use 10ms units, and applications can impose longer minimum delays. Very fast source frames leave less room for a multiplier; inspect the output in its destination player.

Does changing speed preserve frame rate?

Multiplier mode preserves frames and changes delays, so the playback rate changes. FPS mode is a separate resampling operation that may repeat or remove frames.

Can I speed up or slow down a GIF without dropping frames?

Yes. The multiplier changes each frame’s delay and keeps its pixels. GIF delays use 10ms units, so very short pauses are rounded. FPS mode is separate and may duplicate or remove frames.

Why was my file rejected?

Input up to 20MiB, 4 megapixels per frame and 300 frames. Total RGBA frame cache is limited to 128MiB. Invalid or unsupported file data is rejected. Try a smaller file or another browser if memory or encoding support is insufficient.

Are my files sent to a server?

No. Your input and generated output remain in your browser. Close the page or clear the tool to release its local results.
